These causes may be internal, such as hormonal imbalances or glandular issues leading to conditions like acne, or external, such as air pollution or sensitivity to sunlight, causing rashes. Some skin diseases are contagious, like scabies and lice, while others are non-contagious, such as drug allergies and rosacea. Certain conditions are chronic, like psoriasis and atopic eczema, while others are rare, such as Sweet syndrome and Ofuji disease.
In many societies, the general perception diminishes the importance of skin diseases, often leading to reluctance in seeking medical consultation. However, skin diseases remain a significant concern due to their physical and psychological impacts on patients. Early detection of skin diseases plays a critical role in ensuring effective treatment.
The diagnosis and treatment of skin conditions heavily rely on the expertise and experience of specialist doctors. Traditional diagnostic processes can be time-consuming, requiring a patient's medical history, physical examinations, and laboratory tests. Additionally, such diagnostic procedures are often expensive and not widely accessible.
To address these challenges, neural network-based approaches utilizing image analysis are being developed for skin disease prediction. Image processing techniques enable the creation of automated screening systems for dermatology, particularly at the initial stages. Feature extraction is a key step in classifying skin diseases accurately.
This approach involves processing color images as inputs, resizing them, and extracting features using a pre-trained convolutional neural network (CNN). The extracted features are then classified using a multiclass Support Vector Machine (SVM). Finally, the system presents the user with the results, including the identified type of skin disease.
