Need for the Project
In previous years, dairy farms and farmers relied on specialized techniques to detect animal health-related diseases. These techniques required continuous daily monitoring, which in turn demanded excessive labor, especially when it came to tracking the health of cattle. Moreover, these methods sometimes yielded inaccurate results, providing a health status that did not match the actual condition of the animals. Such discrepancies can lead to harmful consequences for the cattle. Therefore, there is a clear need for an automated health monitoring system that can accurately and efficiently record health parameters, enabling timely treatment and better care.
Existing System
Agriculture is the primary source of income in rural areas, and livestock such as cows, buffaloes, sheep, and goats are central to the livelihood of rural communities. Animal husbandry has become a critical concern as farmers are facing challenges such as the spread of diseases and rising breeding costs. To address these issues, it is essential for farmers to adopt more efficient and technologically advanced methods to improve productivity and ensure the well-being of their livestock.
Proposed System
To efficiently monitor the health parameters of cows in the pasture, sensor nodes are attached to the cows. These sensors form clusters and select a cluster head. If data is sent directly from the cluster heads to a static sink, it results in high energy consumption. To address this issue, we introduce a mobile sink, which moves between the cluster heads and directly collects data, reducing overall energy consumption.
Expected Results
Animal and environmental monitoring are key applications of sensor networks. Since end users are primarily interested in accurate sensor data, the network must provide reliable and real-time information. Our proposed system will not only effectively monitor the health of cows, but also track and manage environmental parameters on the farm. Additionally, it can help control these environmental factors, ensuring a healthier and more productive farming environment.
